AMERICAN TOPICAL ASSOCIATION OPENS NOMINATIONS FOR DISTINGUISHED TOPICAL PHILATELIST
The Distinguished Topical Philatelist (DTP) designation is awarded for service to topical philately in general
and to the American Topical Association (ATA) in particular. It was established in 1952 and has been presented
to 110 individuals since its inception. This is the most prestigious award given by the ATA.
Nominations are offered by collectors who are aware of significant contributions to topical philately and to
the ATA by an individual member of the ATA. Nominating letters are to be sent to the DTP Committee and must
include a description of the contributions made by the nominee. These letters are to be sent to:
DTP Committee – Don Smith – PO Box 576 – Johnstown , PA 15907-0576 .
The deadline for receipt of the nominating letters will be November 1, 2008.
The DTP Committee will review all nominations and select the one person whom they believe to be the most deserving
of this award which consists of a plaque, name badge and medal with ribbon..
The 2008-09 DTP will be awarded at the next National Topical Stamp Show to be held June 12 -14, 2009 in Dayton , Ohio.
