Selected study unit - Napoléonic Age Philatelists

Only a very few military commanders become known the world over. Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) was one such leader. He rose to become Emperor of the French from 1804 to 1815, a reign that saw a series of wars that now bear his name. Napoleon's image and depictions of scenes from his reign have frequently appeared on more than 700 stamps from around the world. The Napoléonic Age Philatelists, a study unit of the ATA, specializes in this topic on worldwide stamps and postal history. The study unit publishes the quarterly journal Campaign with articles about stamp issues as well as the history of the period. The unit's website,, includes a checklist of Napoleon stamps and additional links and information on membership.
