Selected study unit - Graphics Philately Association
January 29, 2012
Without printing, the art preservative of all arts, there would be little need for, nor the ability to produce, postage stamps. These fascinating
little "posters," often works of art in their own right, reflect nearly every subject you can think of, and literally thousands are related to the
history of graphic communications. The Graphics Philately
Association, a study unit of the ATA, specializes in this collecting topic from papyrus books, medieval manuscripts and Gutenberg to eBooks of
the 21st century. The association publishes the quarterly Philateli-Graphics for members and includes articles about printing
technology and history, checklist updates, and more information about stamp issues and their printing methods. More information is available on the
association's website at http://www.graphics-stamps.org/.
