Selected study unit - Stamps on Stamps Collectors Club

The postage stamp as we know it today turns 172 years old on May 1. The first adhesive postage stamp, the Penny Black, was issued on May 1, 1840, with its first official use planned for May 6. Since then stamps have been collected and soon they were commemorated themselves on stamps issued throughout the world. Stamps have also been used as design elements on stamps to illustrate the journey of a letter, portions of a philatelic collection, or even to demonstrate where to properly affix postage on regular mail. The Stamps on Stamps Collectors Club studies this collecting topic in depth, publishing the journal SOS Signal three times per year. The study unit's website, http://www.stampsonstamps.org/, includes a gallery of recent stamp-on-stamp issues from 2007 onward as well as articles on parts of this fascinating collecting topic.
